A new Breed Of Vehicle Restoration Students
It’s easy to view the latest generation of car drivers as having little knowledge, understanding or passion for what makes their cars tick. linked with the fact that cars have become more complicated, means basic mechanical skills almost commonplace in the past, are now becoming rarer.
So, it’s reassuring that Penn College are doing great things with their restoration major started in 2012.
This is one of just a handful of degree courses around the country which teach students how to refurbish and maintain the millions of American classic vehicles.
“We have a huge void,” said Earl Mowrey, who heads youth development at the Antique Automobile Club of America. “There’s been a generation or a generation and a half of missed opportunity.”
Unless there is a constant renewal of vehicle restoration students, the skills will be lost unless a new generation meet the demand.
But the degree course and others like it are definitely turning this around, seeing the passion and enthusiasm of all the students.
