The Legendary 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 396

Jimmy crack corn and I Do care! What a hot rod. GM certainly got this car right. Style, comfort and looks are number one. Or is it the massive 396? On second thought it is the reliable powerhouse under the hood. I love this car and would love to see one in my collection.

The first-generation of Chevelle was introduced in 1964 until 1967, with a variety of to an four-door models along with a station wagon. Engines varied from a 194cu. straight 6 to a 396cu. big block V8. You could have a two or three speed automatic or a three or four speed manual.

A good friend of mine had one in the 70’s but it had the six cylinder and PowerGlide. Only later on did I get the privilege to drive a Chevelle with a man’s motor. Hokey smokes was that a rocket. Today these are sought after and for good reason. This car encompasses everything we love. Looks, power, and great memories. I love that 396 engine and it was dropped into many cars back in the day. This car has a proud stance and it should have. Obviously this car was lovingly restored and for all the right reasons. It’s a winner. Most came with a black interior and the standard bench seat. Don’t be fooled by this car. Fooled in the sense that it is just another street car. It’s light, it’s fast, and it’s a darn shame it is not mine.
