I always get weak at the knees when I come across a listing for a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. They literally epitomise the golden era of muscle cars when they are accompanied with a 396 or 454ci. engine. It really doesn’t get any better. This example seems to have been freshly restored with a list of upgrades as listed below from the ad.
The ad. says the car is completely numbers matching from a powertrain to rear differential and has still has the original floor panels and trunk. The listing below however says that the engine is a 406ci, so this will have to be double checked. There is a picture of the build sheet which comes with the Chevelle, but you also have to enquire to see if there is any other documentation or back history which comes with the car.
It looks like the vintage quality and aspects of this restoration has been kept intact from the new paintwork to the restored interior, probably as near as you can get to it actually rolling off the production line. The only real question here is the asking price of $55,000.
There are some outstanding questions that will need to be asked before you take the plunge with this ride, but apart from that and if everything checks out, you really can’t go wrong with a 1970s Chevelle SS.
