We always say it’s unfair to compare the classic era of muscle cars from the late 60s to early 70s to the muscle machines of today.
The engineering and technology is light-years apart in some ways, just like comparing anything built from 40 years ago, but it’s still good fun to see the actual differences.
The guys over at H&H Classic Parts have put together a comparison chart giving you exactly that information.

The obvious standouts are the $13,500 price difference, with the latest versions being much faster along with a 0 to 60 times of 6.5 seconds for the 1967 Camaro SS 396 and only 4 seconds for the 2017 Camaro 1SS model.

Hp rating has also increased, with 375 HP for the 67 model and 455 HP the 2017 model.

Also, as expected, is the big difference in braking distance, with over 250 feet for the older model and only 117 feet for the latest model. This was obviously expected when you’re comparing drum brakes to the braking systems we have today.

If you want any further information, here’s a link to an original ordering guide at GM’s heritage centre for the Camaro, which makes for interesting reading.
