Dodge and Stellantis are now taking orders for the all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV. Early adopters will be treated to a ‘ First Call package’, which includes a two day performance driving experience, welcome bundle and VIP treatment.
The Daytona is replacing previous Hemi models such as the Charger and Challenger that were phased out in 2023.

The two door model Daytona R/T will have 496 horsepower and 404 lb.-ft. of torque with standard Direct Connection Stage 1 upgrades. The Scat Pack version features a Track Package and Direct Connection Stage 2 upgrades providing 670 horsepower and 627 lb.-ft. of torque. Gas models aren’t completely gone, with planned Hurricane engine-powered Dodge Charger SIXPACK models. These models have better horsepower and torque than older Hemi versions. The Charger Daytona will also be treated to a gas power plant sometime soon. The DodgeGarage.com Horsepower Locator tool will help find Dodge dealers in your local area.

Key Features of the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona

With up to 800 volts of power, the Charger Daytona promises a performance boost that goes beyond standard EVs.
Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust: A sound system built into the car that creates 126-decibels, mimicking the aggressive sound of traditional Dodge V8 engines. This unique feature sets the Charger Daytona apart from quieter EV competitors.
R-Wing Aerodynamic Design: The R-Wing design optimises airflow, offering improved downforce and stability at high speeds. This innovative feature ensures the car maintains superior handling while contributing to the Charger Daytona’s iconic, sleek muscle car look.

Multi-Speed Transmission with eRupt Technology: Unlike conventional EVs with single-speed gearboxes, the Charger Daytona features an innovative multi-speed transmission. Dodge’s eRupt technology ensures the driver can experience gear shifts, enhancing the traditional driving feel associated with gasoline-powered muscle cars.

Maintaining Legacy While Leading Innovation

Dodge has worked meticulously to ensure that its legacy of American muscle is embedded in the DNA of the Charger Daytona. This includes the design cues that recall past models, such as the wide-body stance, aggressive front grille, and distinct rear spoiler. However, this vehicle isn’t living in the past; it’s forward-thinking, using advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and high-performance EV batteries to deliver a driving experience that’s both futuristic and true to its roots.

Powertrain: The Heart of the Charger Daytona

At the core of the Charger Daytona is an 800V “Banshee” electric motor, designed to provide immense torque and rapid acceleration. Paired with Dodge’s eRupt multi-speed transmission, it delivers a driving experience that replicates the feel of shifting through gears in a traditional gas-powered muscle car.

Key Specifications:
Battery: 800V architecture, providing faster charging times and increased range. Equivalent of 670 HP.
Range: Estimated to be competitive with top-performing electric vehicles.
Acceleration: Expected to surpass many ICE muscle cars, with 0-60 mph times of 3.3 seconds.

Advanced Technology Integration

Dodge didn’t just electrify the Charger Daytona; they equipped it with advanced technology that brings it into the modern era while maintaining its muscle car essence.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Performance Management: The Charger Daytona uses AI-based software to continuously monitor driving conditions, optimising performance, efficiency, and handling.
Enhanced Infotainment System: Featuring a large touchscreen, the infotainment system offers seamless integration with smartphones, enhanced navigation, and customisable performance metrics. Drivers can monitor energy usage, performance stats, and more through a cutting-edge digital interface.

Over-the-Air (OTA) Updates: The Charger Daytona will receive software upgrades via over-the-air updates, ensuring it stays current with the latest performance and tech innovations.

Interior Craftsmanship

Inside, the Charger Daytona offers a driver-centric cabin that blends luxury with a performance-orientated design. High-quality materials, sports seats, and a cockpit-inspired layout make it clear that this vehicle is built for both comfort and speed. The infotainment system is seamlessly integrated into the dash, offering easy access to vehicle controls, performance metrics, and entertainment options.

How the Charger Daytona Compares to Competitors

When stacked against competitors like the Tesla Model S Plaid and Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Dodge Charger Daytona stands out in several key areas.
Sound: The Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust gives the Charger Daytona the roar of a muscle car, while other EVs remain nearly silent.
Transmission: Dodge’s eRupt multi-speed transmission offers a driving experience more similar to traditional gas-powered vehicles, providing a more engaging feel compared to the single-speed transmissions found in most EVs.Performance: With an 800-volt architecture, the Charger Daytona offers faster charging, higher efficiency, and more power than many of its competitors.

In the era of sustainability, Dodge has managed to retain performance without compromising environmental goals. Not exactly the prime directive of muscle cars since the beginning, but that’s the world we now live in.
The Charger Daytona aligns with the global shift towards reducing carbon emissions by offering a zero-emission vehicle, all while maintaining the exhilarating performance expected from a muscle car.
