2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Review

If you’ve missed the news on what’s being released from Dodge in the near future, then up next from the SRT division will be the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Starting at around $59,000, the fully loaded version is more like $90,000. For that you get racing stripes, wide-body option increasing the stance by 3 1/2 inches, different wheels and tires, active safety blindspot monitoring, Laguna leather interior.

So what’s under the hood? A 6.2 L supercharged V8 with 792 HP. The connecting rods and pistons have been upgraded, boost has been increased from 11 1/2 to 14 1/2 psi. The automatic transmission has an upgraded torque converter, but no manual version here. You need a regular Hellcat for that. Basically, you’re getting a vehicle which sits between a Hellcat and what the Demon had to offer. With the wide-body option., it seems like Dodge are throwing everything into the Redeye from the whole line. The only thing missing is a AWD option.

The video goes into the intricacies of the car and what you get in the cabin from functionality to comfort. You then get a road test describing all the driving modes and most importantly what this thing can do as a regular driver.

So why would you buy the Redeye above a regular Hellcat? Those who wanted some of the goodies from the Demon but missed out due to its limited numbers can enjoy some of those Demon like features. The problem with the Demon is that it was so dragstrip orientated, it’s arguably not the best performer on the road or as a regular driver. Those who want something a bit more than a regular Hellcat may also look towards the Redeye as an option.

I like the statement in the video, ‘this isn’t just a car, it’s therapy.’ This is what all muscle cars old and new excel with, the fun factor and just sheer enjoyment. Since day one of the muscle car no matter what the conclusion of a review, the raw enjoyment of the driving experience always comes through. These cars will always put a smile on your face and that’s what the driving experience is about.
