2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Can Take on The 700Hp Club

The last C7 Corvette will be the 2018 ZR1 and should join the 700hp club taking on its rivals, the Dodge hellcat and the GT500. The current Corvette is no slouch with 650 HP, but the upcoming Ford Mustang GT500 should also deliver in the range of 800 HP making it possibly the most powerful around, but as we await the both vehicles, it’s the first out that will gain the most momentum.

With the Dodge Viper to disappear soon the Corvette will be the only one of two US built vehicles in the sports market, which will use an aluminum frame and composite body with a supercharged LT4 small block engine. This should come with either a Tremec seven speed manual or a 10 speed automatic. Spy shots haven’t given much away about the upcoming ZR1 apart from things like the aero package and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, but the expectations of over 700 HP seem to ring true making it the fastest Corvette produced. Performance ratings expect a 0-62mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top limit of 186 mph. The C7 will be superseded by the 2018 C8 which will have a mid-engine configuration.

The C7 ZR1 should debut at this months Detroit auto show.
