2016 Chicago Auto Show: Ford GT
By Mark Weisseg
While trolling around the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, we kept an eye out for the Ford GT. So much has been written about this car that we wanted to see the latest one for ourselves, up close and personal.
As you can see, Ford had it roped off to keep the masses from getting too close but, we got what they were showing.
I have watched enough auto auctions over the years to see this car sells for many times its original price. That itself is a rare opportunity but few can lay out what it costs to start out with. Then, in order to keep the value high you cannot drive it. Yep, buy your dream car and then rarely drive it. The announcers roll there eyes and you can hear the disgust in there voices if said car is ten years old and has more than five thousand miles on it. Seems somewhat strange to me but I guess that is how the high end game works. Buy something for a ton of money and then not use it. Jeepers.
Anyway, from all appearances from a distance the new GT has the Eco Boost V6 engine in it and from what we are told the car is just as good if not better than the last GT’s sold.
I could not sit in it or get close enough to give you some real meat here so together we will just have to wait and see. If you happen to get a lot of money go ahead and buy one but, don’t drive it…..
