Is A 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS Better Than A Dodge Challenger SRT 392?
By David Ashton
This is the question posed by the guys over at Driving.ca A straight forward test drive review between a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS and a Dodge Challenger SRT 392.
The modern Camaro is more sports car like than it’s ever been, while the good old Dodge Challenger still keeps its muscle car DNA. Big and bold, just the way we like it.
The Camaro is obviously trying to appeal to a wider market with its more ‘sporty’ features, but is it also in danger of losing some of its ‘muscle’ heritage at the same time. The challenger on the other hand, revels in being muscular in looks, sound and performance. Something which always puts a smile on the driver’s face.
The review goes into the usual spec lists, like the Challenger having 485 HP and the Camaro 455 HP, the Camaro being $10,000 less than the Challenger at $52,000 and also featuring a host of fine modern tech to get it round the corners, such as the magnetic ride control.
But the main point here is to see which car you can best live with on a daily basis.
In conclusion, the Challenger just edges ahead with its muscle car sensibilities, fantastic Hemi V8 and to live with daily, a more comfortable cruiser.
The Camaro wins if you’re more interested in track driving, but for a daily drive, the Camaro 1LE is recommended if you want to stay Chevy.
Basically, raw muscle car fun, compared to the more sporty pony wins out in the end.
