1973 Plymouth Road Runner 340 RM21 Code
By David Ashton
It’s common knowledge that by 1973, the oil crisis and high insurance prices had severely affected the muscle car market. The cooler car designs of pre 1972 also started to go a bit awry, but that doesn’t mean these vehicles are less worthy than their earlier counterparts.
This 1973 Plymouth Road Runner is in fine shape for its year, with 80,120 on the odometer and is numbers matching.
The exterior of the car is in fine shape painted in Silver Frost, with only some minor blemishes here and there, especially on the trunk lid. This also applies to the chrome work, still looking shiny and looking fine, after all these years.
The interior is just as good, with the bench seat showing no real signs of wear and the carpets still in great condition.
The engine bay houses a 340 CID V8 engine, with only some minimal rust on the drivers side. A cleanup here and service would make this baby a real standout.
Currently at a bid of $8100 with two days to go, this is one Roadrunner which may not fetch the prices of its earlier counterparts, but in every other respect is definitely worth shortlisting as a classic of its age.
