1972 Dodge Challenger vs 2018 Dodge Demon

This video features one of those hypothetical matchups, which has come to life. A 1972 Dodge Challenger vs a 2018 Dodge Demon. One of the classics from the vintage muscle car era in a drag race against arguably the best of modern muscle cars.

The 2018 Dodge Demon is presumably in stock condition with its 6.2-liter HEMI Demon V8 producing 840 horsepower, but the video gives no clue to what under the hood of the ’72 Challenger. The ’72 model amazingly first gets the jump on the Demon, but is quickly overtaken by the Demon. A lot here is down to driving skill, but the outcome was kind of predictable unless the Vintage Challenger had some serious upgrades under the hood.

These sorts of drag races are not here to prove a point or conclude anything, but rather putting into reality those hypothetical car matchups and ‘what ifs’ we will discuss from time to time just to see what will happen. Putting up the latest and greatest against a vintage classic it’s always a great experiment and no matter who wins, is always great fun, especially few own one of these vehicles or have been a long-time fan.
