When it comes to restoration project muscle cars which have been left for decades. They are usually covered in dirt, leaves another piles of nastiness. On first impressions, this Challenger R/T is buried under boxes of spare car parts. Luckily, the seller is also provided an image of the car cleared of all its debris, but it’s still in a very dusty disused state.
As you can see this Challenger is in a very disused state. The ad. gives no indication of the amount of rust, but you can presume this car will need to stripping down to the bone I quite a bit of welding work needed. The interior seems relatively intact, with seats and dash still in place. The engine also seems complete and even has air con.
As highlighted by the seller the dash VIN and door VIN tags are different. A ‘U’ in the dash VIN and a ‘V’ in the door VIN. The ‘U’ denotes a 440 V8 with a 4 -barrel carb. The ‘V’ is a 440 V8 6 Pack. Hmmmm. The build sheet at least comes with the car for its authenticity.
Bottom line, this is a 1970 Challenger R/T 440 which needs a complete makeover. Maybe some of the parts on top of the car may come with the sale, but if you consider the ever escalating prices of a 1970s Challenger R/T, this example may just be worth putting the effort into.
