1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 Dyno FE427 Side-Oiler Blasts The Dyno
By David Ashton
When it comes to top-of-the-line Ford engines in vintage muscle/pony cars, the FE 427 is the top of the stack. These were firstly race only engines but eventually became publicly available. The engine came in two options of a side-oiler and a top-oiler, both equally as potent.
This video shows a rather handsome 1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 with a retrofitted 427 FE Cobra side oiler being tested on the dyno. The graph produced shows some nice figures, but the dyno blast is far too short for an engine like this one to get a proper reading.
However, the main takeaway here is the magnificent sound of that V8 engine, dyno correct or not. Just check out the video and see what you think.
