1969 Dodge Daytona 440 CI, Barn Find
Everybody hopes to wander into a remote barn and find some rare piece of automotive history.
Here is one of those examples in the form of the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona.
It was featured recently in Mopar Muscle magazine and is now for auction at Mecum auction as below.
The history behind the car is a local judge bought it for his wife, which was then sold on to its second owner in rural Alabama in 1974, where it has lived ever since.
It may seem incredible today that someone would leave such a rarity like this to rot away. However, this was the case with many a muscle car, as for many years in the past they were just simply seen as old, antiquated vehicles not worth a cent. It’s only in hindsight that we can see how precious these vehicles really are.
The Dodge is in completely original condition, with all original parts and was treated to a light scallop edged door paint and flames sometime in its past.
Mecum estimate the worth to be around $150,000 – $180,000, so we’re guessing it will never ever see wet hay bales ever again!
