– Engine: 426 Street Hemi OHV V8. 7-17-1968.
Compression ratio — 10:25:1.
Hp = 425 @ 5,000rpm
Torque 490-lbs.ft. @ 4000rpm.
Valvetrain — Solid lifters and mechanical rockers.
Main bearings — 5.
Fuel system — Dual Carter AFB four-barrel carburetors mechanical pump.
Lubrication system — Pressure, gear-type pump.
Electrical system — 12-volt.
Exhaust system — Low-restriction exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust pipes and mufflers with crossover tube.


– Transmission: A-883 four-speed manual, Borg and Beck 11-inch dry clutch, Floor-mounted Hurst shifter.
– Rear: Dana 60 semi-floating hypoid with Sure-Grip differential. 3:54:1.
– Rear window of the Charger 500 was sloped into a smoother shape.
– Charger 500s started as stock 1969 Dodge Charger R/T models with sales code A11.
