1969 Corvette Manta Ray: Now A Trademark

We were contacted today on our Facebook fan page to see if we could find anything on the Corvette Manta Ray.

Errr….ok.
Within no time, I came across News of GM filing a trademark request for a ‘Corvette Manta Ray’ on June 18th, 2015….hmmm. Does this mean a possible Corvette Manta Ray will be produced in the near future?

Maybe, maybe not, but if you look at the original Manta Ray/Mako Shark design you will see that it could be the basis for an extremely cool looking future Vette. If this ever comes to fruition, is anybody’s guess, but it would be cool to think that a Manta Ray may come into production sometime in the future.

The Mako Shark, which eventually morphed into the Manta Ray, was a concept car to inspire future Corvette productions. A new front spoiler, redesigned grille, external exhaust pipes, show close similarities to the production vehicles, but was only ever planned on being a concept car. Today, the cart lives in the GM Heritage Center.

The Manta Ray/Mako Shark May have been a concept car to inspire production models, but we may just see a Manta Ray in the near future, who knows, only the inner workings of GM.

That would be one cool looking car.
