1968 Pontiac GTO Barn Find
This 1968 Pontiac GTO has obviously seen better days, having been tucked away since 1978.
Amazingly, the car does turn over and run and does come with the original numbers matching engine.
The ad. also says that all the gears have been gone through and there is no immediate issues.
The transmission seems to have been replaced with an all aluminum close ratio T10 from a 1961 Corvette (T10-1C) and the rear axle replaced with a 12 bolt out of a 1967 Chevelle (N 3894939) sometime in the past.
The ad. points out that due to the car been sat for so long, it will need a new floor and trunk pans and basically a thorough restoration. It’s hard to tell how much metalwork and welding will be needed, but you can expect it to be quite extensive.
The interior is reasonable, but you could expect it to need more than just a basic clean considering its age.
This could be a great project in the right hands and brought back to life, a great example of a classic.
The options for the car are outlined as having –
Pushbutton Radio with Manual Antenna
Rear Seat Speaker
Retractable Headlamp Covers
Hood Mounted Tachometer
Rally II Wheels
Electric Clock
Dual Exhaust Extensions
Rally Gauge Cluster
G 70×14 Red Wide Oval Tires
The car is at a current bid of $3563, with roughly 2 1/2 days to go on the auction, located in Grafton, Ohio.
Engine: 400
Transmission: Manual
Mileage: 45,000
