1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray
1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray
This Chevy started life as a run-of-the-mill (if there is such a thing) 327 Corvette. Back in ’65, that set-up was considered the hottest small block package on the market. But times change, and today, GM’s 7.0 liter LS7 is, hands down, the hottest small block your money has ever been able to buy.
Twisting 505 horsepower into a claimed 3.6 second 0-60 time, the 2010 LS7 crate motor rumbling beneath this car’s hood is a technological testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more power.
Founded in GM’s very successful Corvette racing program, the brutal mill utilizes a forged crank, titanium rods and hypereutectic pistons to flat out whip pretty much anything with four wheels. A perfect amount of oxygen flows from a big, reusable filter element in to a familiar GM throttle body.
A factory intake progresses to CNC-ported cylinder heads that are built with lightweight titanium valves.
2.5-inch pipes coated Rewarder Racing Products headers.
Aluminum radiator, dry-sump lubrication, corrugated hoses and a SPAL electric puller fan ensure rocket-like acceleration. Satin Black frame, a chrome brake booster and familiar red dust covers enhance GM’s traditionally conservative aesthetics.
Refinished in a stunning coat of DuPont Nassau Blue.
