1958 Impala From American Graffiti Now For Sale.
The white 1958 Chevrolet Impala in George Lucas’s ‘American Graffiti’ is to go at auction at profilesinhistory.com and is expected sell for around 1 million dollars.
The car started its movie journey when American Graffiti co-producer Gary Kurtz bought the car in Los Angeles as the movie needed a tuck-n-roll interior, and this Impala already had the option.
After the filming ended in 1972, the car was sold by the film’s car coordinator Henry Travers to Mike Famalette of Vallejo, California, for less than the initial $325 price.
The only Impala used during filming, it features a 348(not a 327 as stated in the movie) engine, three speed manual transmission and tuck-n-roll interior.
The car was swapped out to a 283 and power glide, then later to an LT1. The car was kept in storage until recently.
You can check out the profilesinhistory.com website to find out more details, via this link, but you will have to wade through their catalog PDF file.
