1956 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight: The First Batmobile For Sale!

Until 2008, forgotten since the 60s.
Go on, say it, you only have one chance…’ Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Batman!’

‘The 1963 Batmobile is the earliest known custom car that was actually sanctioned by a DC Comics licensee to be used as a Batmobile. The ’63 Batmobile was custom-built from the ground up. Starting with a 1956 Oldsmobile 88 frame and the famous 324 Rocket engine—a predecessor of 1960s muscle cars—Robinson replaced the Oldsmobile body with his custom-designed fiberglass body, sporting the Batmobile’s iconic dorsal fin, bat-nose front-end and pocket sliding doors, reminiscent of the 1950s DC Comics Batmobiles. ‘

So from the documentation, this car was not used in the original Batman series, but it was the first Batmobile licensed by DC comics and uses a promotional piece, visually looking more like the Batmobile of the 1950s comic books.

The current bid is US $153,100.00 (8th July 2015) with only three bids.
Will it eventually sell and for how much? I think you would have to be a rather big Batman fan of the original TV show, to really want this car.
Then again it would look fantastic as a piece in a car museum, which is probably the best place for it so everybody can enjoy how Batman cruised around in the 1950s and 60s!
