Living With A Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat For 3 Years

It’s one thing reveling in the juicy specs. of a performance vehicle, but what’s it like living with one long-term? This is the topic of this video which looks at the mighty Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. TFLcar have owned and driven the 707 horsepower Hellcat for three years and given feedback in the video on all areas from reliability and performance over this time. Has the Hellcat been as impressive as its performance figures or truly a misbehaving feline from hell.
Even the most hard-core Dodge fan would expect some teething issues along the way from such a finely fettled machine, but the good news is that it’s been a solid driver over the duration. Apart from the regular scheduled maintenance appointments, the only real issue was a malfunctioning fuel rail pressure sensor. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 ran consistently with a 17.8 mpg, which was better than the EPA estimates of 16 mpg. The Hellcat was ran mostly in Eco mode, which cut the 707Hp to 500Hp, but it seems no issues on the mechanical front. All the electronics worked seamlessly, apart from a minor gripe about the SRT Performance Pages taking a long time to load.
Most of the negative points were about panel fitments, like the hood, the drivers bucket seat starting to wear and the rear seats being only usable if you are the height of a very small child. If you want more room in the back, the advice is buy a Charger.
The conclusion? ‘heck of alot of car’ and ‘very, very powerful.’ Also, if you shop around you can start to pick them up for under $50,000, especially with some examples being garaged for most of their life, instead of thrashed to death. Overall, excellent news and peace of mind knowing it’s not just about the power, but also the long-term reliability for the Hellcat.
