Ultra Rare 1966 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350-H Up For Auction

The Ford Mustang has been one of the mainstays of the pony/muscle car market for over 40 years. Along the way there have been limited editions, which Hertz had the bright idea of offering to the public as a rental vehicle in the form of the Shelby GT350-H. Kitted out in black with two gold stripes running along its length, the car was a Rent-A-Racer for it’s time.

As you would expect from a rental vehicle, these cars are usually thrashed then taken back to the rental dealers. They were then usually restored and and sold on, but they are still in very short supply.

One of these is coming up for sale at Barrett Jackson auctions, Northeast. Only 999 Shelby GT350-H were made in 1966 and this one is only one of 59 made in ivy green. it’s powered by a 289 CI/4.7 liter V8 engine with a three speed C4 automatic transmission. The full price back in the day was $3,762.84, with a rental daily price of $17.

This example had a full restoration back in 2010 with most of the parts being Ford NOS or OEM. The numbers matching powertrain was also rebuilt during the process. All original and comes with plenty of documentation.
