Which Ugly Cars Do You Find Attractive?
How dare I, they are all attractive! However, there are always a few that slip through the net and become the Fuglies of the muscle car world, but are still loved.
Design is a very subjective thing and this is probably aimed at the mid-70s onwards, but there are still a few from the classic era that just didn’t hit the spot then or now.
These cars are equally loved and cherished by their owners, so we need to tread carefully. It’s a bit like those guilty pleasure tunes we listened to. We won’t admit them in public, but we love them to bits in private. Like those guilty pleasure tunes, once they come back in fashion, everybody loves them and that’s why it is so subjective.
Here are a few to ponder on.
1974–1978 Mustangs
This is a case in point where the second-generation Mustangs were not that bad looking on their own. That’s if you totally ignore the first-generation of Mustangs. When you have something as beautiful as the first generation Mustang, it’s hard to improve on that design. Arguably it wasn’t until the fifth generation that the Mustang started to look like its original form again.
1981–1987 Dodge Charger
The second and third generation Dodge Chargers are obvious classics, but just like the rest of the muscle car world from the mid-70s onwards, the designs started to try and please everybody, but slowly forgot those initial groundbreaking designs. However, they still have appeal if you look closely enough.
Which muscle cars do you secretly like, which are considered by the wider masses as an ugly car?
