Shelby Daytona Super Coupe CSX2286 Re Made With Only 6 Examples
By Dave Ashton
The CSX2286 Shelby Daytona Super Coupe was based around the AC Cobra Roadster built to take on Ferrari at LeMans. Only six examples were originally built to be raced between 1964 – 1965. Chassis number CSX2287 was the original, with five other unique chassis numbers as you can read here.
Version CSX2286 addicts body on frame extended to accommodate a Ford big block 390cu., but the vehicle never made it to the Le Mans race track as it was involved in an accident on the way. This is where the GT40 came into play in 1964 and the rest is history. The CSX2286 was replaced with a small block as it remains today.
Shelby America will now make six versions of the Daytona Super Coupe with a 4 to 7 engine and four-speed transmission. The pricing on these limited edition models will be anybody’s guess, but features and options will be a wide and varied to match the pricing.
