Restomod Muscle Cars for under $20,000?
It’s not exactly breaking news that golden era muscle car prices are going up year on year, but can you still get a ‘Buy and drive’ muscle car for around $20,000?
True unrestored classics are going to be very hard to find at this price point, so we thought about the restomod sector, to see what’s out there.
A good restomod should take a classic muscle car and essentially replace all the old engineering and mechanics with new versions, for example an EFI, disc brakes, maybe the engine, maybe a new transmission, maybe new lots of things, but from the outside it still looks like a classic muscle car.
These two pics are quite random, but the idea is to make you think out of the box and as a start point for your own journey. This is basically why we chose a Ford Ranchero. It’s a pickup, which in this area usually means people look at an El Camino and the like.
No two vehicles in the muscle car market are the same, especially when they become restomods, such treat them on their own merits.
If you look hard enough, you should always be able to find an example at your price point.
