A Possible New Chevrolet Corvette As Plant Tours Suspended
By Lee Cusworth
The Chevrolet Corvette production plant has suspended public tours for the next year and a half saying that the reasons being are for extensive work to be carried out. This could also mean that a completely brand-new Chevrolet Corvette is in the pipeline.
This could be especially true considering the latest sightings of a camouflaged test Corvette going round the Nürburgring with exterior features such as aerodynamics looking far removed from the current model, such as an active aerodynamic system. The closing of the factory could also indicate a completely new engine for the Corvette as spy videos feature the ZR1 test car sounding out an exhaust note unlike any present-day ‘Vette.
According to some reports, GM will be releasing a 6.2-liter DOHC V8 engine around 2018, but it’s unclear which model the engine will eventually go in. At this point a mid-engined Corvette is most likely going to happen, which means that a factory refit will be needed, which makes sense for the future closure.
