You’re not just getting a rare vehicle in this package, you are getting racing pedigree and top end performance.
These were brutal cars in their day, throwing out the same sort of power we expect today, just in a simpler format.
If you want a piece of racing heritage, along with some rare muscle, this maybe the car for you.
You are viewing A” REAL RARE “1968 Plymouth Barracuda Super Stock B029 car. 1 of ONLY 55 BUILT!!!!! It was born with a Hemi Engine from the factory and now it houses a cast iron period correct, SS/AA spec Hemi built by legendary Ray Barton. Ray Barton was known for extracting over 900 horses out of his engines. Let me say it again this is a REAL B029 68 Plymouth Barracuda Super Stock Car. This particular `Cuda has been a popular West Coast competitor and spent 80% of its racing career on the west coast and in through the mid-west. The car has been stored since we acquired it in 2009. This car was an active competitor throughout its whole life. This car did very well in the NHRA racing community and over the years its been upgraded and updated with the latest racing technology.
The big news for 1968 A-bodies was the Super Stock 426 Hemi package, available in the Dart and Barracuda; around 50 of the latter were produced. This was a drag race only package, featuring a race-tuned Hemi and a seriously lightened body with acid-dipped doors, Lexan in place of glass, factory delete of anything not essential to life on the drag strip (e.g. back seat, sound deadener, window cranks). They had a little sticker which indicated that the car was not for use on public highways, but for ‘supervised acceleration trials” only. Running into the low to mid 8 seconds these cars dominated the top NHRA Super Stock classes (SS/A and SS/AA). Super stock was not for everyone but for the people that were involved it was EVERYTHING. The history alone behind this car is so significant to the Super Stock Heritage. Just being able to race side by side with Sox & Martin must have been a true honor. Just imagine going up against the Ford Driver’s Don Nicholson or Hubert Platt or against Chevy Driver’s like Dave Strictler or Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins but more importantly running up against legendary cars such as the Boss 429’s, Mach I’s, the COPO Camaro’s or the rare Yenko’s.
Here are some of the upgrades that are presently in the car:
· Ray Barton Super Stock Engine(just freshened up)
· Hogan sheet metal Aluminum Intake
· Strange Axles
· Mark Williams 5.14 gear w/spool.
· Koni Coil Over shocks
· LAMB 4 wheel disc brakes
· MSD Trigger Ignition
· NHRA Certified
· Full AutoMeter Gauge Set Up W/Tach
· Barry Grant Fuel System
· Rear Fuel Cell and Batteries
· Mickey Thompson Tires
· Weld Wheels
· Was previous hooked up with a Data recorder but has been since removed
· Full Tubed Chassis w/4 link suspension
· Trans Brake
· Line Lock
· Much Much More!!
Those who know this car know that it’s one of the most rare Hemi cars out there. If the original Hemi were still in this car, it would be priceless. This car was and is a part of NHRA Super Stock History. It has been raced up to 2005 at the Super Stock Hemi Shoot Out at Mission Race Park, BC.
