New Dodge Challenger and Barracuda For in 2018?

Rumours have abound for the last year or so about the future of the Dodge Challenger and if a Barracuda will make a comeback for the 2019 model year.

firstly, the Dodge Challenger. Rumours about the 2019 model say the FCA would turn to twin-turbocharged powered engines for future Dodge Challengers and with the 2025 Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards coming up, this could be a possibility. But with the popularity of the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 and the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8, it seems hard to think that in only a few years, these will be scrapped in place of turbocharged versions.

It’s looking likely that for the 2019 model year will see an upgrade to the Challenger using the Giorgio platform, making for a much lighter version of the Challenger.
All we can say at this point is the mighty Hellcat engine isn’t looking like it’s going to go away any time soon or at least not in the next few years, but if that helped Engine is to stay long-term, it may have to be tweaked and settled to fit future emissions (the same story, 40 years on….)

The future of the Barracuda may also see a 2019 appearance in convertible format, sharing many similarities with the upcoming 2019 Dodge Challenger platform.
If both models get tweaked and fettle for the 2019 versions, with upgraded and lighter bodies, they should make for very tasty future muscle cars.
