By Dave Ashton
Verifying the make, model and other attributes of a Mopar can be done by hiring an expert to check out all the vehicles details, one way you can do this yourself is with the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)s on a vehicle. All those little numbers that you find on these tags are code for everything from type of engine, transmission, model, date of manufacture, car color and other information to nail down the exact model.
These tags can usually be found on the drivers side dash. The other place is on the drivers side fender under the hood on 1969 and up models. Once you locate these tags, it’s an down to start decoding them. One of the best ways is using an online tool where you can import all the numbers. My Mopar.com has nice tool for doing this, along with stock Mopar, but that seems to be only for 1970 to 1970 models.
We have also written a few articles in the past about different VIN coders on the internet which can find below.
If you need to A full and comprehensive verification of your car for nothing beats an official evaluator, especially if you are thinking of selling the thing. But these online tools can give you enough information for your own peace of mind.
