Martha Reeves & The Vandellas Run Round The Mustang Plant!
This video isn’t just a look at the great tune ‘Nowhere To Run (1965)’ by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, but also the location to the video.
‘Motown’ stood for ‘motor town’ and the video was shot at Mustang Assembly line at the Dearborn Assembly Plant, Ford Rouge plant on june 15, 1965.
It makes sense, the Motown record company doing a few video shoots at the local car plants. convenience probably was the order of the day, but it now that’s is looking to how cars were built back then.
This video gives you an insight into the video shoot and feedback from the artists themselves.
The most impressive thing here is seeing how the assembly line worked back in the day.
One point that stood out to us was when they walk through the area where the panels were sprayed.
Can’t really see that happening today. Imagine Rhianna been asked to just walk through a spray booth while miming to a song. It will be a health and safety nightmare! however, this was the 60’s and things were much looser back then.
There are many other things to note as said in the video, the car they sat in was built in two minutes 45 seconds.
If you’re a fan of the music or not, check out the video to give you a brief insight into the production lines of the 60s.
