Back in the day, potential muscle car buyers and car dealers could order a new vehicle with various parts. If you want a different engine or suspension setup, tick the appropriate box on the order sheet. Fast forward a few decades, and these custom-order cars are now the most collectable.

This short and to-the-point video highlights 10 muscle cars being the rarest of the breed. These include –

1971 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda Convertible (7 built)

1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake (1 built)

1966 Dodge Coronet Hemi Sedan (2 built)

1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst Convertible (1 built)

1966 Shelby GT350 Convertible (6 built)

1969 Hurst Oldsmobile 442 Convertible (3 built)

1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Convertible (8 built)

Its also worth noting that each of the vehicles above can be acquired without the rarest of parts combinations for less money, but still in the expensive zone. For example, a 1971 Plymouth Cuda can be bought for roughly $150k, but add in a Hemi engine and the price goes up to around nearly $300k.
