Ford Mustang Dark Horse Hits The British Moorlands
By Dave Ashton
The Ford Mustang has proven very popular all across Europe, in many ways securing the Mustang’s future and its internal combustion engine. Therefore, it made sense to release a more finely fettled version of the breed in the form of the Dark Horse.
Essentially, the Dark Horse is a track-focused version of the Ford Mustang with a 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission (10-speed automatic optional), and 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque(caveat: due to European emission rules, this will be more like 450HP). Other specs include a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 166mph.
Released in the UK on 1st February 2025, behind the US release in the fall of 2024, European residents were given a heads up on what to expect and some real-world feedback online.
In the US, the Dark Horse has an RRP of $62,995, while in the UK the Dark Horse costs £67,995. For that money, you could buy the likes of a BMW M2, Porsche Cayman or a Lotus Emira, but would you have as much raw fun in those options?
How does the Dark Horse Fair?
What better way to test if the Dark Horse can cope with European roads, than a trip around the damp, and winding paths of the British countryside.
Testing track capabilities and the specs are one thing, but what is perfectly summed up in the video is the statement about the Dark Horse, ‘its joy machine.’ What a car should be about.
