Find Of The Day: 1968 Pontiac Firebird
By David Ashton
Engine: 350ci.
Transmission: Muncie 4 speed
Price: $16,000 obo
The Pontiac Firebird was first introduced in 1967, ahead of the infamous Trans Am in 1969 to compete against the rest of the muscle car market. This example maybe classed as a barn find, but it’s got all the potential to be brought back into shape.
The engine has been bored 30 over and been rebuilt along with the transmission a few years ago. It includes a new cam, Hooker headers, MSD ignition, push button start, plus a few other additions and is said to be an original owner vehicle. As details on the vehicle are thin on the ground, it’s really down to just the provided images for the shape of this ride.
The bodywork isn’t showing any clear signs of rust and the body looks quite straight, but it does look like it will need a new paint job if you want to get it into show condition. The interior looks very dusty, but complete which means that it could possibly get away with a lighter restoration than most if there isn’t any major rust issues to content with.
Overall for the asking price of $16000 this ’68 Pontiac if all checks out with documentation could be a great winter and spring project that is driveable along the way.
