Find Of The Day: 1965 Chevrolet El Camino
By David Ashton
I love the El Camino from all its generations. Tail happy burnouts and enough room in the back for a party.
On first impressions, this example doesn’t look too bad from the outside. It does obviously have surface rust underneath and roundabout, but it’s the back bed area that looks the most rusted with what may be quite a few holes here and there. Hard to make out from the images. The ad. does say that the rear quarter panel’s will need patching or replacing and are the worst areas, but that rear area does look a point of concern to me.
The engine is said to be a 1984, 305ci. , which has been bored .040, with powerpack heads, a factory cast iron four barrel intake and a freshly rebuilt Holly 600 carburettor. The truck is said to run, but how well, could be anybody’s guess.
The transmission could be original or not, but is said to be a Muncie M20.
For a buy it now price of $3,850 with six days to go, this could make anybody a great classic project, which you don’t have to throw a ton of money at to earn a load of fun.
