The humble car tire is something we all take for granted, but the question here is, how are they made?

Originally people rolled around on wooden or metal tires. Not the most comfortable way to get around, so in the early 20th century the rubber tire was invented.

The basic formula has been optimised over the years with today’s tires having around 10 to 12 elements, including natural rubber, synthetics, carbon to make the tires black plus other chemical components.
