Dukes of Hazzard Charger Jump

This video shows a Dodge Charger General Lee performing one of its classic jumps from the TV show Dukes of Hazzard at the Detroit Autorama on February 24, 2017. The car in the jump you see is being auctioned off minus motor and transmission, but the main reason for featuring this jump is to give a close-up and personal look at how much impact and destruction happens to these vehicles while doing these stunts.

In all TV shows the cars once they have done the jump and landed, it just carries on driving. But in reality there is a few ton of vehicle, usually landing nose first into the road. As you can guess, this results in not just a bit of front-end damage, but bye, bye car and onto another one. This is why most TV shows and movies have multiple vehicles lined up in the background to perform the stunts. Its also why you see different versions of vehicles being advertised as being stung cars on a particular show or movie. Many get crushed after the show, but a few always slip through the net.

Still, it’s fantastic to see such a heavyweight muscle car fly through the air, even though in many cases it can be a one-shot deal.
