Detroits Precious Auto Design Saved Through Exhibition
A free exhibition, ‘American Dreaming: Detroit’s Golden Age of Automobile Design,’ at Gallery in the Lawrence Technological University Learning Center, 2100 W. 10 Mile Rd.,Southfield, Detroit, will show around 120 artworks by 20 well-known car designers.
The exhibition is to centre around and focus on the ultra-talented designers covering 1946 to 73, which should result in the release of the film in 2016.
If you watch the trailer below, it is arguable that all the sketches, designs that were produced through this era, should be seen as artwork or even fine art.
Two quotes from two with the designers in the trailer –
‘There’s never been a culture and history that has had anything like that….’
‘The American dream is to do the best you could’
This shows that the designers worked within a time where there was arguably more freedom of expression within car designs and the influence of the space age, produced some of the designs which have now become ageless.
Check out the video and look forward to the upcoming film.
