Book Review: 1001 NASCAR Facts by John Close

Boy oh boy CarTechBooks really out did itself with this book. Author John Close put together a 376 page book on facts and figures regarding NASCAR. Now, you may think a book with facts and figures may be a bit dry but not this one. The author takes you back to the roots of what we now know as NASCAR.

The book covers the cars, the tracks, and all the milestones of NASCAR. Even better, the author takes you into the personalities of the drivers. As I mentioned earlier the book is a thick one. Included are 125 pictures of NASCAR history. To a NASCAR fan I promise you will really enjoy the trip down memory lane. Long forgotten tracks and drivers along with very interesting facts. I admit I was a NASCAR junkie at one time and attended many races. I got “hooked” in the 1970’s and to this day enjoy a good race. With that in mind please remember NASCAR as we know it today is nearly seventy years in the making. To get all those years into a interesting book is a big task. The author accomplishes this by short, easy to read paragraphs. I really enjoyed the early years of the sport. The book is a joy to read and hard to put down. In fact with Father’s Day coming in June this would be a great gift. Dad certainly does not need another tie so consider ordering this book on line or picking up the phone and order one or two.
