An Amazing 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro From Mecum
By Dave Ashton
For those who don’t know, Don Yenko built muscle cars as ultra-limited edition versions of Chevrolet vehicles which utilised the Central Office Production Order (COPO) system to produce cars with much higher spec. parts and performance than their regularly sold equivalents. Due to their initial high pricetag and limited numbers, they are now some of the most sought-after muscle cars on the planet. There are plenty of Yenko clones out there which do make for great muscle cars, but there’s nothing like a perfect condition original.
This example is being auctioned at Mecum auctions in Dallas, Sept. 6-9th 2017 and as you can see is in as mint conditions you can get. It features everything you would expect from a COPO Camaro, 427ci. engine, better suspension and brakes and a bunch of documentation from the original sale to prove its worth. Full description below.
Original Camaros are classics in themselves, but with the addition of the Yenko touch these are some the best muscle cars there will ever be. it will be very interesting to see what this example, eventually sells for.
