1995 Ford Mustang LS-Swapped With 8 Turbos
By Dave Ashton
If there is one area where you need to give muscle car fans their dues, it’s the willingness to experiment. In this instance, Kyle and his 1995 Ford Mustang with an LS engine, has been treated to eight turbochargers. Currently, the car has been dyno and open road-tested, with a long-term aim of being raced with a single turbo setup.
There’s clearly a lot of complications involved with bolting eight turbochargers to a vehicle. Even so, the car still managed to squeeze out 737HP and 590 lb. ft. of torque on one dyno test. Testing also showed that there was a lot more work to be done and money spent to make the whole system more consistent. The last tweaks to the car involved improving the efficiency of the intercooler to beat the 33 PSI (2.27 Bar), to push more horsepower to the rear wheels.
The current plan for the Mustang is to take it back to a one turbo setup for this year’s racing season. Then the experiment can recommence next winter, where extra time and funds can improve the design.
