If you asked the question in the late 60s and early 70s, the range of options would have been more complicated. In today’s arena, the choices of makes and models are far less, but it also means you know exactly what you’re getting.

Modern muscle cars still keep their basic DNA as raw machines, while also easily serving as daily drivers. With this in mind a few models from the big three are tested out over at Wtop from Dodge, Ford and Chevrolet.

The comparison lines up the Chevrolet Camaro SS, Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack and the Ford Mustang GT convertible. The test is straight to the point, giving you an overview of the pros and cons for each model. Which one is best? From this roundup they opt for the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack as its size is the most practical and usable.

This review only covers three models, but each maker has far more muscle cars in their lineup to choose from. Dodge start with the SXT $27,295 with 15 other models going up to the Hellcat wide-body at $71,495. Chevy Camaro start at $25,905 for a base model LS/LT, a 2LT, 1SS, 2SS and the ZL1 at $61,500. Lastly, a base Mustang costs $26,001 for an eco-boost fastback, with nine other models going up to the GT350R costing $67,135.

There are special editions thrown into the mix here like the Ford Mustang Bullitt, but what it means ultimately is there is a muscle car out there for your price range and needs ranging from the more straightforward base models to the uncompromising and raw full-blown muscle cars. Basically, there’s no excuse not to own one.
