70s Muscle Car Drag Racing

This video is a great glimpse back into the heady world of 70s muscle car drag racing. The video features classic racers such as Sox & Martin and Dick Landy, but more importantly it shows how raw and balls to the wall racing was back in the day.

Open faced crash helmets, cars being refuelled by people in just a pair of shorts and T-shirt. Health and safety was far more lax back then than it is today, but these attributes added to the danger and excitement of the times. Imagine today rolling up to the line in your car with cigar in mouth. You’d be seen as a maverick or simply dangerous, while back in the day this was just the norm.

You get thoroughbred muscle cars here, along with pure dragsters and for a short minutes you get a glimpse into a world which attracted tens of thousands of people every weekend. Definitely worth a watch.
