The Hennessey ‘Exocist’ With 1,000 hp To Take On The Dodge Demon
By Dave Ashton
All the talk at the moment in the muscle car world is about the Dodge Demon, with horsepower ratings expected to beat the current Hellcat. However, Texas tuning outfit Hennessey may have something to say about this with the release of their ‘Exocist’ model.
The Exocist is based on the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 which pushes its base 640 hp (477 kW) to a massive 1,000 hp (746 kW) and torque going from 868 Nm to 1,310 Nm.
The extra power comes from a high flow supercharger, intercooler system which produces 14psi boost, ported factory cylinder heads, upgraded camshaft, hi flow induction system, stainless steel headers and custom engine management.
‘”Equipped with rear drag radial tires, The Exorcist will deliver 0-60 mph times under 3 seconds while running the quarter mile in less than 10 seconds.”However, The Exorcist is not just a quarter-mile racer. It’s a well-rounded super muscle car that is just as happy on a road course as it is on the dragstrip and street,’ stated John Hennessey.
The car can be ordered from Chevrolet dealers or directly from Hennessey. The pricetag for this upgrade will be $55,000, which includes all the modifications and stick a package along with a two-year/24,000 mile warranty. There are options available for the Exocist which include a 10 speed transmission for $9950, a drag pack for $8995 which comes with 315/30 drag radial tires and upgraded driveshaft and lastly a road-race package which has lighter wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for $6,995.
Only hundred vehicles will be built each year with its debut at the Houston Auto Show.
