Ford Australia Closes Production After 91 Years

Its hard to believe, but Ford has now stopped production at the Broadmeadows plant, Australia, with over 600 workers losing their jobs and ending Fords production of vehicles in Australia.

The last vehicle to roll off the production line was a blue XR6, with the Ford Falcon ending its production.
Although Ford will no longer produce cars in Australia, it is still going to employ around 1,500 people in its engineering and design areas.

The last Ford being made also, lines up with the qualifying day at the Bathurst 1000, which has been a traditional ground between Ford and Holden.

The first Ford built in Australia was the model T at the Geelong plant in July 1925. manufacturing was then set up in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide with another plant in Fremantle in 1930.

Since the first vehicle produced in the Broadmeadows plant in 1959, 4,356,628 vehicles have been produced there, which marks an end to an incredible run of vehicle manufacturer.
