1750HP Camaro SS Crashes At 200MPH
This video starts with a seemingly straightforward half mile pass by a fifth generation Camaro SS. However, everything goes wrong at the end with the car rolling and flipping, luckily, with driver and passenger coming away unhurt from what looks like a horrific accident.
It’s testament to the safety precautions within the car, the driver and the team around them that they walked away unharmed. Once you see the videos below, you will see this could have been a very different scenario.
The driver of the QMP Racing Engines LSX436 Twin Turbo Camaro SS, Nacho Bernal had nearly 1800HP under his control. The car had a six point rollbar, Snell rated helmets and Force 5 point harness.
As this was a completely controlled environment, safety officials were on hand instantly to deal with the accident.
Ironically, Nacho also set the half mile world record at 195mph before the car spun out of control.
These videos should also be a lesson in high-speed driving. It shows what potentially can go wrong and unless you have the complete safety precautions in place, the story can end up completely different.
The videos below shows the different angles of the accident, with the first one also showing the wreckage of the car after the event.
