Muscle Car Talk: When Muscle Car Flames Work
By Mark Weisseg
This Camaro is one sweet car. Where do I begin? The owner who made the decision to do the green flames up front hit a home run.
Sure, flames are usually red or yellow, so it takes courage to break from the norm. It took the painter of this classic a lot of courage to break away from the easy way of doing things to make this classic something special. I also like ghost flames. Ghost flames have really come on of late and seem to be very popular.
The trick on this car was a big risk. If the owner decided wrong the car would look silly and it would not fit. In this case they hit a grand slam because they took the always popular black color and added life.
Black would have been easy and it would have been enough other than black shows every single misgiving. I have a black car so I know.
This owner was very smart to take the black and bring the front of the car to a new life. Thankfully the flames are not red. That would have been to easy and expected. Instead, they took a chance and hit it out of the park.
This car looks great coming and going and the touches are soft and subtle. Yet, from the looks of how the car stands, the wheel package and hood bump has a surprise under the hood for anyone dumb enough to chuckle at this beautiful car.
This all shows that taking a creative risk with the right skill can pay off. It may not be everybody’s thing, but in this case the results are spectacular.
