Some say motor racing started when the second car was built.
Like most things in life, there is usually a progression from one state to another and so it is with automotive racing. The earliest forms of racing progressed one step at a time into what we see today, so it’s good to look back to see how some of the earliest forms of racing took place.

Hosted by the Oilers Car Club/Motorcycle Club, at Wildwood, New Jersey, spectators lined the beach to see dozens of vintage cars still showing their worth.
The criteria is for all vehicles to be produced pre-1935 and can only use parts from 1953 or older.

The cars may look different, they may drive and sound differently, but the enthusiasts and drivers all the same ethos as they do today, the need for speed.

The Oilers car club was formed in November 1947 to hold drag racing events, which also produce the National hot Rod Association (NHRA) and the DragMaster company, arguably the inventors of the modern dragster.
In 2008 the club was revitalised by a new generation and each year goes from strength to strength.
