2018 Dodge Demon comes To New York motor Show
By Dave Ashton
Fans of the original Dodge Demon from the early 70s are in for a treat this April when Dodge unveil the new Demon model at the 2017 New York motor show.
There are no official images of the vehicle as yet, apart from teaser videos like the one below, titled ‘Cage’ to give you a glimpse into its Demon like qualities. What is clear is that the new Dodge Demon will have insane amounts of horsepower, at least matching the current Hellcat with possibly a version of the hellcat 6.2 L V8 engine or a worked version of the 8.4 L Viper V10 engine. Styling will surely be along the lines of the current Dodge Challenger with some possible design nods to the original Dodge Demon.
Pricewise, you could be looking at around the $60-$70,000 pricetag as the current Hellcat comes in at around $60,000. Tim Kuniskis who is head of Dodge vehicles USA said, ‘Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody, there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture.”The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation.’
We are not sure if this is a replacement for the current Hellcat to line up next to it, but the excitement that is building around the upcoming Dodge Demon is going to go a long way for pushing the modern musclecar era.
The original 70s version of the Dodge Dart Demon had a 340 V8 engine and was a great muscle car of its time. The latest version will obviously have all the modern technology to live up to its namesake as a modern counterpart and will help cement the modern muscle car age.
