Engine: 340 V8 5-speed.
DRIVE TRAIN / SUSPENSION
The strong running 1970 340 makes excellent power, runs and sounds great.
The 340 was completely rebuilt a few years ago by the previous owner.
We just installed a new cam, lifters, timing chain and water pump. The new cam gives a better range of power and has the well-needed 17lbs of vacuum to operate the power brakes. The hydraulic Comp cam is very close to stock with a 447/455 lift and a duration at .050 at 212/218. It previously was bored .030 over with correct 10.1 compression TRW pistons, original reconditioned “J” heads with hardened seats, also recon rods and crank.
The 1970 340 has a casting date of 12-2-69 and the ID Badge below the head is FW340P30490500 stamped on it.
The motor casting # is 2780930-340-3.
The 340 is topped of with a Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock Thunder AVS series 650 cfm carb #1806 with electric choke. It also has the correct factory 340 exhaust manifolds part #’s 3614368 and 3418623.
The 5-speed Tremec TKO-600 transmission is absolutely incredible!!!
It gives you excellent performance from red light to red light and gives you the extra 5th gear for highway cruising keeping your RPM’s very low! This complete kit cost over $4,700, plus labor.
The rear end is a 8 1/4 with 4.10 posi center and a casting number of 3723599.
It has newer Mopar Performance super stock leaf springs, hangers, bushings and new Monroe rear shocks. The front suspension had a PST kit installed in 2006 and is in great shape. This excellent drive train combo has very good performance, cools great and handles awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving. This is a very tight and excellent running and driving 340 5-speed Demon!
