A 1970 Ford Torino GT: Ready For Restoration
By John Simms
This 1970 Ford Torino GT has been parked since 2008, has a 351 Cleveland engine, just about runs and is ready for a thorough restoration.
Although the bodywork is in very ratty condition, the rust seems to be minimal and the panels in good shape. The car looks like it’s being worked on in the past, the ad. saying it only has surface rust, with the project dropped at some point, which may benefit you at least with the initial hard work.
The underside shots show mostly surface rust which can be easily cleaned up.
The interior looks in relatively good condition with the seats and interior trim looking in relatively good shape. The dash says it has cracks but can be easily replaced, so that’s at least one thing on the shopping list. The drivers seat is said to have a small rip and the headline has a small hole, but you would expect there to be imperfections and things needing repairing or replacing throughout this vehicle.
The 351 engine bay looks in reasonable shape with a four barrel intake needed, new carb and probably a complete strip down to get this engine in full, good working order.
There are loads of images that come with this listing, which will give you a good idea of what you’re getting for your money.
For the asking price, currently at a bid of $3,761 with 3 1/2 days to go, you have enough here to either make a completely roadworthy vehicle and have a ratty muscle car or take it back to its stock condition. Either way, this is a fine platform for the money.
